Project 365 - Photo of the Day - April 30, 2008

Yay! It finally opened. Artspace Sailboat Bend Lofts. It has been a project of the Broward Cultural Division for more than ten years. There have been many staff members that have come and gone who have worked on this project. And now, it is open and fully occupied.

There are 37 artists living in the apartment building. The lofts are live/work spaces and there are many different types of artists living there from musicians, dancers, writers, poets, spoken word poets.

These photos are from the grand opening and we had more than 200 people there and many dignitaries. We rented a trolley to shuttle people from the parking garage near the Broward Center because there isn't much parking.

The actual event photos will be on the Division's website. These photos are what appealed to me. The artists' tools and their art. Take a closer look at the traffic cone and the shovel and grass and dirt. They are all crocheted!
