A Fungus Among Us

I found this on a tree trunk along our morning walk.  Just a bit of mushroom growth, due in part, I am sure, because of the copious amount of rain and humidity over the past few days after a very dry and cool streak of South Florida winter weather.

I am always surprised by the the little wonders of nature that we find, especially when we slow down and take the time to notice.

The closer I look at this, the more I am amazed at the textures and formation of the mushroom. Also, I love the contrast of the colors.

Crimson Sunset

On my way home from work, the sunset was spectacular. Luckily, I had a moment to capture this image when I stopped at a red light.
Such a nice way to end a workday.

Lunchtime

I took a break from my new job and walked around the campus to explore a bit. I found a lovely spot by this lake, ate my sandwich and watched the Egyptian Geese watching me!

As uneventful as it was, it was a time to unwind and reflect on my new life.

 It’s a New Dawn, It’s a New Day

Today, I start my new job. This image was made yesterday along my walk. It seems very appropriate as I end my two week break and start a new career.

I accomplished everything that I set out to do on my vacation.

I had my bedroom painted and rehung the photos.  I had my driveway painted with a gray combination of sand in the mix so that I won’t slip and fall (again).  I bought granite for my kitchen counters which will be installed tomorrow. And I turned my old laptop into a digital photo frame and uploaded all my photos (about 20,000) onto Amazon Photos.

I also went to the gym almost daily after my morning walk. And saw friends.

I am ready to face this new challenge.

Warm Skies

As the Midwest is in the midst of a snowstorm and frigid temperatures, this morning’s sky greeted me with a tangerine colors. This is the time of year that I love South Florida. Not so much in the middle of the summer when my clothes instantly stick to my skin as I walk out the front door from the air conditioning to the 95 degree temperatures with 90 percent humidity.

The walk was extremely pleasant and after about one block, I shed my sweatshirt and tied it around my waist.

Our morning walk wouldn’t be complete without a visit with Bob and Shubba the Vizsla dog that greets us with such enthusiasm that you just have to love him!

The weather continued to be absolutely perfect throughout the day and as the sun is beginning to set, I am still outside on my patio not wanting to go inside.
