An Actual Vacation

Ok, so it was only a long weekend, but this was the first time in a very, very long time that Joel and I actually went somewhere just to go somewhere without the children!  What a concept!

I took Friday off from work and we left at about noon for Orlando.  My lovely new friends and neighbors were kind enough to let us use their timeshare in Orlando.  They also let our friends use it too.  But instead of a two bedroom, we had two one-bedroom apartments.

We always make an adventure out of almost nothing, like eating at Wendy's on the turnpike or just taking photos of the timeshare apartment, or dinner at a nice quiet Italian restaurant and shopping at Publix for a few items to keep in the apartment.  We did have some silly time to make up words with a new brand of crackers!

Just the change of pace and scenery was so lovely.  Adina was off in Boston at her debate tournament at Harvard and Rachel was still at school in Indiana.  I think the last time we went anywhere without children was when Joel took me to New Orleans for my 40th birthday.  So that was 14 years ago!  Wow, that IS a long time.  We need to do this more often.
