Adina Models for Me (Part II)

So after the Indie Craft Show, Adina wanted to model her newest outfit.  Part came from the Show and part from Goodwill!  She was so proud of herself that she agreed to me my model again.

A Girls Day Together
Adina had asked to go to an Indie Craft Fair up in Delray Beach a few weeks ago, but something came up and we couldn't go.  She was so unbelievably disappointed that I knew I wanted to make it up to her.  So last weekend I took her to the Indie Craft Fair at Club Revolution in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.

This particular Indie Craft Fair used to be held at Cinema Paradiso but I guess they outgrew the place.  There were three floors of booths and artists.  We really had a good time wandering from booth to booth.  Nothing really for me except for fun with my camera.  But Adina bought a bunch of stuff.

However, we started out the day by framing her artwork and delivering it to the Bird and Bear Gallery which is upstairs inside of Tate's Comics.  She ignored me as I documented the entire delivery of artwork.  She thought I was being annoying!  I guess I was, but we can look back on this when she is a famous artist and laugh!

Then we had lunch at my favorite place on Second Street -- T Mex or whatever they are calling themselves these days.  At least their cilantro avocado salad never changes!!

After the craft fair we wandered through downtown snapping all sorts of grungy shots which I thoroghly enjoyed and then ended up at Urban Brew (the one on Federal Highway) for a treat!

It was a fun day and definitely a girls outing.

Adina Models for Me

Adina loves making up creative outfits.  And then she likes to upload them to a fashion website and talk about what she did to put that look together.  So almost everyday Adina will ask me to take photos of her outfits.

This time I wanted her to play around a bit and this is the result.

A Day in Mount Dora

Our vacation continued on Saturday morning with our friends, Hal and Madeline.  After a quick breakfast in our apartment, we drove about an hour to Tavares which is near Mount Dora.  We rented a pontoon boat there.  As we pulled out of the inlet and onto the lake, there was a bit of fog since it was still a little cool in the early morning.  Everything seemed so white!

We traveled through three lakes and two canals to get to Mount Dora.  It was the most relaxing and exhilarating boat ride I have ever been on.  I took tons of photos, but I am only going to post one here.  My favorite.  The others will be posted on my Kodak site.  I think I can do a series of images in a show just from Saturday.  The weather cleared up and the sun came out and presented us with a magnificent sunset.

It was a very long day, but it was all so much fun.
An Actual Vacation

Ok, so it was only a long weekend, but this was the first time in a very, very long time that Joel and I actually went somewhere just to go somewhere without the children!  What a concept!

I took Friday off from work and we left at about noon for Orlando.  My lovely new friends and neighbors were kind enough to let us use their timeshare in Orlando.  They also let our friends use it too.  But instead of a two bedroom, we had two one-bedroom apartments.

We always make an adventure out of almost nothing, like eating at Wendy's on the turnpike or just taking photos of the timeshare apartment, or dinner at a nice quiet Italian restaurant and shopping at Publix for a few items to keep in the apartment.  We did have some silly time to make up words with a new brand of crackers!

Just the change of pace and scenery was so lovely.  Adina was off in Boston at her debate tournament at Harvard and Rachel was still at school in Indiana.  I think the last time we went anywhere without children was when Joel took me to New Orleans for my 40th birthday.  So that was 14 years ago!  Wow, that IS a long time.  We need to do this more often.
