Like a Pro!

Tonight my photography class went on a field trip to a REAL photography studio!!! It was so much fun. They plugged their TTL devices into our hot shoes and suddenly our photos looked unbelievable. I didn't even touch these with Photoshop except to crop them a bit.

The dog belongs to the owners of the studio. Her name is Lucy and she is the ultimate ham!!

It's All About Adina Tonight

Tuesday was open house at Adina's school. We had to go from classroom to classroom to meet each teacher. It was actually fun. Her teachers had only good things to say about her and it sounds like she is off to a great start.

At home I snapped a few photos of Adina doing her homework just playing with different angles.

The last photo was me playing with my new Speedlight flash!

Public Art at Port Everglades

One of our public artists, Michele Oka Doner, recently installed a free-form terrazzo floor that is 3,000 sq. ft. at Terminal 18 of Port Everglades soon home to the largest cruise ship in the world . . . Oasis of the Seas which can hold 5,400 passengers plus a crew!

This first photo is my graphic designer, Jose, taking a photo of the floor so that we can finish the panels at the public art exhibit, Natural Forces, which opened yesterday at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood. The floor had just been poured and we needed a photo for the wall at the exhibit.

The second photo is upstairs of the highly polished cement floors reflecting the straight lines of the fluorescent lighting. I liked the geometric patterns and the reflections.

The Cultural Crew

After about 18 months of planning, applying and receiving a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, graphic design, publicity and endless phone calls and meetings . . . the Natural Forces Exhibition finally opened at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood.

Perhaps we don't look tired, but I was in this photo. Once I am done creating and promoting an event, I want to move on. And, to top it off, I was missing my photography class! However, I was very proud of the staff who worked on this project and we still have to pack it up and move it up to the Coral Springs Museum of Art in the spring and publicize it once again!

You Can Have Your Cake and Eat it Too


Our neighbors came over for a barbeque and after dinner Joel brought out these really good cupcakes. Gianna totally enjoyed this cupcake and gave me this look with her pretty blue eyes. She was lost in the moment! And I thought she looks so sweet.

Body Painting

Ok, so they had clothes on, but Adina and her friend, Sierra, spent about two hours in the garage with white pants and short and fabric paint and splattered colorful creations all over each other.














This was only the beginning. I was watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon and taking breaks every few minutes to check on their progress. It isn't Labor Day without Jerry Lewis. Joel used to work for him for five years. But that is an entirely different story!

My little artist is really getting into the act of splattering. She loves when I take photos of her. Such a ham!














And artists can't create without music. This was her ipod in the speakers filling the garage with Green Day sounds.














How appropriate is this bandaid? It did look like a crime scene from the TV show Dexter except in Technicolor.




















And this is the final product! We hung the pants from the ladder to dry overnight.



Sierra was very proud of herself too.

Homework

I have never had so much fun doing homework in my life. I guess I was not taking the right classes! I had to play with my light meter and bracket the shots with different settings on the aperture and the shutter. It was all on manual and in some cases I took the auto-focus feature off. Not the most exciting of shots today, but I think I accomplished what I set out to do. I didnt' upload the dark or over exposed shots, only the ones that I liked the best with the best possible color saturation.
